Erin Mehlberg, fourth grade teacher

Favorite Bible Verse:
Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I grew up on a dairy farm south of Eau Claire with my parents and two brothers. Following high school, I attended UW-Stevens Point where I obtained a degree in Elementary Education/Learning Disabilities. Shortly after, I received an Early Childhood Add-On and Masters Degree in General Education. I have been teaching since 1999 in a variety of grades (with the exception of a seven year break to stay at home with our children).

My husband Kurt and I call Junction City our home where we live with our three children (Ethan-UWSP Junior, Kaitlin-CUW Sophomore, and Konnor-Northland Lutheran High School Senior). When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with family, boating, camping, making cards, and reading. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to serve at Immanuel! My favorite part of the school year is getting to know families and witness God’s abundant blessings.

The school's theme this year is "Connected" (John 15:5). Share a time in your life when you saw the importance of being connected to Jesus.

When my mom passed away from Glioblastoma 7 years ago. I was blessed with being able to take a leave of absence from teaching to spend four short months with her. I can look back now and be grateful for that time on my knees as I believe that is when I felt most connected to Jesus.

Describe your perfect day.

I'd spend the day relaxing in the boat with my family, tubing and eating Reese's peanut butter cups. Then I'd end it with a Denali flight seeing trip and hike on the glaciers in Alaska.
