Favorite Bible Verse:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
I grew up on a dairy farm south of Eau Claire with my parents and two brothers. Following high school, I attended UW-Stevens Point where I obtained a degree in Elementary Education/Learning Disabilities. Shortly after, I received an Early Childhood Add-On and Masters Degree in General Education. I have been teaching since 1999 in a variety of grades (with the exception of a seven year break to stay at home with our children).
My husband Kurt and I call Junction City our home where we live with our three children (Ethan-UWSP Senior, Kaitlin-CUW Junior, and Konnor-UWSP Freshman). When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with family, boating, camping, making cards, and reading. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to serve at Immanuel! My favorite part of the school year is getting to know families and witness God’s abundant blessings.
Our school’s theme this year is “Endure” (Hebrews 12:1-3). Briefly share a time in your life when you felt you needed the endurance that only God can provide. How can you use your experience to share God’s love with the students and families in our school?
Hebrews 12:1-3 allows us to consider the times in life when we need to tune out the “noise” and keep our focus on Jesus, the one who has set the race for us. Reflecting on my own past, I recall a time in college when someone told me I was not cut out to be a teacher. I almost strayed from that career path. Thankfully, I was surrounded by wise people who helped remind me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the one who created the plan set before me. By sharing our own personal experiences with students, we can help show them the importance of focusing on the race God has set for each of them and celebrate that path, while embracing its challenges.
What do you think the ultimate theme party would be?
It would be a tie between a candy party, a glow party, or a MN Viking party. Maybe combining all three would be the ultimate answer!
