Favorite Bible Verse:
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7–8
I was born and raised in a mid-sized town on the southern border called Yuma, Arizona (the sunniest place on Earth!). After being accepted to Concordia Irvine, I spent a few years in California before transferring to Concordia Nebraska. My husband, Chad, and I just recently moved to Wisconsin and are loving it so far! I am overjoyed to begin my first year teaching at Immanuel.
Although I would love to be able to say that I always wanted to be a teacher, when I was young, I would say that when I grew up I would be a rockstar. Shockingly, that hasn’t happened yet. Teaching was the second career I began to strive towards!
Children are the foundation of the future and deserve to be invested in and built upon. This is why teaching is a job that I cherish because each moment that I get to spend with my students is invaluable! Additionally, I cherish being given the opportunity to do my best in fulfilling the Great Commission and help my students strengthen their faith in Jesus is a blessing.
Our school’s theme this year is “Endure” (Hebrews 12:1-3). Briefly share a time in your life when you felt you needed the endurance that only God can provide. How can you use your experience to share God’s love with the students and families in our school?
This summer while I was on vacation in Arizona, my dad suffered a very massive heart attack. It was a pretty scary and stressful time for my whole family. I had to rely on God to endure the worries that it caused me. I am so thankful that he is doing well now and that God gave wisdom to the medical staff who helped him through this time.
If you could be any character from a childhood fairy tale who would you be and why?
If I could be any character from a childhood fairytale I would probably choose Alice from Alice in Wonderland. This is one of the only fairytales that doesn’t have an incredibly sad ending for the main character and I really enjoyed the book when I was young. She goes on an absurd adventure and meets many creatures that I would have liked meeting. The movie was also a favorite of mine as I loved how beautifully the talking flowers were drawn (even if they weren’t very nice).
