Favorite Bible Verse:
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11
I was born in Huntsville, Alabama, where I lived until I was 15. I then moved to Milton, Florida, where I lived until we moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 2015. Throughout high school, I ran my own cake decorating business and started to dream of having a show on the Food Network. Now, I just bake for fun. I graduated high school in 2001 and began my college career at Pensacola Junior College, where I majored in Elementary Education. Unfortunately, life happened, and I did not finish my course of study. I met my husband in 2004 and we were married the next year.
We have two boys: Chris, who is an Immanuel alumnus, and Levi, who is a current Immanuel student. In my spare time, I love to play games with my family, watch documentaries, and travel to new places in and around Wisconsin. I am currently attending Concordia University Wisconsin through their online program and plan to graduate in December of 2024 with a Lutheran Educator Degree. I hope to one day become a teacher at Immanuel, where I can make a difference in the lives of students just like many of the teachers have made a difference in the lives of my children. Immanuel has been a blessing to our family, and I pray it will be to yours as well.
Our school’s theme this year is “Endure” (Hebrews 12:1-3). Briefly share a time in your life when you felt you needed the endurance that only God can provide. How can you use your experience to share God’s love with the students and families in our school?
One of the most challenging things I have done in recent years is go back to school at almost 40 years old. Balancing school, work, home, and family has been a challenging experience. There were many times that I wanted to quit and told myself that I was not cut out for this. In those moments, I would stop and take a break, and then I would pray. I would ask for the strength to keep going and for God to put people along my path to help me along this journey. I have worked and pushed through the tough times with the help of some fantastic family and friends. Now, I am almost done, and I am so glad that I kept running the race and did not give up.
Which phone app do you use the most and why?
The app I use the most is TikTok. I follow many teacher pages and get some great ideas from them. It is fun to see what other teachers are doing in their classrooms and find ways to adapt them to the classroom I am working in. I also send way too many funny videos to my friends.
