Favorite Bible Verses:
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God.” Galatians 2:20
I grew up in a small suburb of Chicago. I have always had a love for children and animals. I originally attended college to be a biologist, with a lifelong dream of studying wolves in Yellowstone. However, God had other plans, and I ended up graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught in Illinois for several years and then at Immanuel for 1 year before staying home to have children. For the past 15 years I have been blessed to be serving as Admissions Counselor here at Immanuel. In 2016 I had the opportunity to step back into the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher. This year I have taken on a new adventure by stepping out of the general education classroom and taking on the title of “math interventionist”. This is an exciting journey and I am looking forward to continuing to share the love of Jesus with children and watch them grow daily.
Our school’s theme this year is “Endure” (Hebrews 12:1-3). Briefly share a time in your life when you felt you needed the endurance that only God can provide. How can you use your experience to share God’s love with the students and families in our school?
In 2023 I lost someone close to me in a tragic way. It was difficult not to focus on “why would this happen” and what could God’s plan possibly be now. I had several months of overwhelming sadness and difficulty focusing my eyes on Jesus. I know that it is only through the listening ears of Christian friends, the prayers lifted by those friends, and God’s Word that I was able to endure this period of life. Each time I think back I thank God that He loves me so much that he kept me close, even though I felt far away. I believe that this experience has also presented me with the opportunity to empathize with others who are going through something similar and to share God’s love with them as well.
What song is currently the soundtrack of your life?
I would have to go with two different songs. Both of these songs are impactful right now as my children are growing and spreading their wings and I am very aware of how quickly time flies. The first song would be “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney. I am particularly impacted by the line “take every breath God gives you for what it’s worth”. The other one that would be a close second is “18 Summers” by Matthew West.
