Brian Betts ~ January
Happy New Year. Welcome to 2025 and all the New Year resolutions that will help me be the best person God wants me to be. This time of year, many people renew their commitment to building good habits to fulfill God’s mission and purpose for his disciples. The Bible verse for the month is from Philippians 1:6: “And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. This month’s school goal will be to develop skills that help you bounce back from challenges.
The dictionary defines resiliency as “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. When children are resilient, they are braver, more curious, more adaptable, and more able to extend their reach into the world. The tool that will be learned has four R’s for resilience. The first is to recognize the hardship so you can find a solution. If there is a challenge in life, identify it and move to find a solution. The second is to remain hopeful. Having the hope that God will provide you with what you need when facing a difficult situation. The third is to reframe hardships and put them into perspective. What can you do with your current resources and move forward knowing you can find solutions to improve things? Finally, it is to have a supportive relationship and a community that supports each other. If you are going to be resilient, you will need to reach out to your community for help and help others. God has put people in our lives who can help us reach the mission if we ask for help and work in the community.
Using the tool is a way to help build resiliency in our lives when facing challenges. Understand that God always works in our lives and provides people and resources to help us move forward. So, what new goals will you set for yourself in 2025? Do not give up on working to meet that goal, as God always supports you.
Blessings,
Brian J. Betts-Principal
